Falher on Fire, Grimshaw Still Winless in NPHL

It was a big weekend for the Falher Pirates in the North Peace Hockey League (NPHL).

The Pirates now top the standings at a record of 5-and-3 and 10 points, after a pair of wins Friday and Saturday against the Manning Comets, who now sit in second at 3-and-4 and six points.

As well, two Falher players are in the top 10 in terms of leading scorers. Cedrick Harvey and Jeff Chalifoux are in fifth and sixth at 13 and 12 points total, respectively. Harvey’s stats include one goal and three assists during Friday’s match-up.

The Grimshaw Huskies, meanwhile, are now 0-and-6, as they are still looking for their first win of the year. They fell 8-4 on Saturday to the Grande Prairie Athletics, with the A’s getting their first four goals in just four minutes of play in the first period. The only piece of good news for the Huskies is that Corson Fairless was on fire, scoring all four goals for Grimshaw.

The Huskies will again seek their first season win on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. They’re set to play host to the High Prairie Regals at the Mile Zero Multiplex.

And speaking of High Prairie, they also saw action at the Sports Palace on Saturday. And despite a promising start, they’ve now dropped their last three games, falling 7-3 to the Dawson Creek Senior Canucks. This also drops the Regals’ record to 2-4-and-1, keeping them down in third place in the East.
