The numbers are now in from the Muscular Dystrophy fundraiser put on by the Peace River Fire Department.

According to Danika Jurczak, one of the coordinators with Muscular Dystrophy Canada, it brought in $6043.96

“It’s a little bit less than last year, but at the same time we didn’t get a lot of corporate donations this year. This money, minus $300, all came from people who came into Tim Hortons. So it’s a really huge initiative, we had amazing support from the community and even on that cold day, everyone was so warm and so friendly.”

Jurczak adds that this is one of several fundraisers they do across the country.

“Muscular Dystrophy is actually out firefighters charity of choice. It’s been going on with different departments across the country. For our department, it’s the third year on a row we’ve been doing this initiative.”

The firefighters were on the roof of the local Tim Hortons for 24 hours on Friday and Saturday of last weekend.
