The results are in for the Peace River Cash Spiel.
In the Competitive Division, Team Graham Powell out of Grande Prairie won in this event, defeating hometown favourites, Team Scott Webb, in the finals 7-1 after just 5 ends.
Powell’s win puts moves him into second place with 30 points and one win on the Pomeroy Peace Curling Tour. Webb’s loss puts him at 28 points overall, dropping him to third.
Although he was eliminated in the quarterfinal this time, Jeff Ginter of Dawson Creek still gets six points from this game, and this allows him to retain his lead with 30 points, as well as two wins so far on the tour, having taken the titles in both Grande Prairie and in Fort St. John.
Over in the Challenge Division, Glen Godberson of Fort St. John took his second title of the tour, having beaten Doug Small 9-8 after eight ends. The win puts Godberson in first in the standings at 32 points. Godberson previously won the Challenge title in the Fort St. John spiel.
Despite his loss, Small still gets 10 points in the standings, moving him up from ninth overall in the standings all the way up to fourth. Although Small hails from Grande Prairie, his three teammates are all from Peace River.
Janet Plante, who finished second at both the Grande Prairie and Fort St. John Cash Spiels, failed to win a single game at the Peace River event, giving her only two more points in the standings and dropped her to second place at 22 points.
Serge Martin remains in third overall, getting six points overall for a total of 22.
The fourth and final event of the tour, the Dawson Creek Cash Spiel, will take place from December 8 to 10, 2017. The top eight in each division after this spiel will compete for the Tour Championship in Sexsmith from January 12 to 14, 2018.
