In a news release, Whalen says he looks forward to continuing to work on some of the HFCRD’s key priorities.

“I am very proud of the work we’ve done together,” said Whalen. “I look forward to continuing on the same path in the future.”

As well, Gary Fisher was elected as the board’s Vice-Chairperson. The second-term member from the McLennan area says he looks forward to his new role.

“As a resident in McLennan for many years, and as a former teacher and principal of Ecole Providence School, I fell honoured to represent the school community I care so much about,” said Fisher. “This new role gives me even further insight into the needs of all HFCRD communities.”

Over in the Peace River School Division (PRSD), Darren Kuester was picked once again as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, taking on the job for the fifth-straight year.

“I am humbled to continue to serve our school communities, and excited to work with the new board,” Kuester said in a news release. “This new board brings a wide range of perspectives and varying backgrounds, each of which will serve our school communities very well. I am excited to get to know, and work with the new board.”

Elected to the position of Vice-Chairperson is second-term trustee Delainah Velichka, who currently represents the Hines Creek and Worsley areas.

She says she’s honoured to continue serving on the board, adding that she’s excited for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

“I am passionate about bringing the voice of students, parents, staff and community members to the board table,” said Velichka. “I’m also dedicated to the learning, success and well-being of our students and staff throughout the division.”

The Conseil Scolaire du Nord Ouest’s (CSNO) board also recently held their organizational meeting. They’ve re-elected Sylvianne Masonneuve of Falher as President, and have picked Grande Prairie’s Roger Tremblay to be the Vice-President.
