La Crete In Kraft Hockeyville Contest

The community of La Crete has entered this year’s Kraft Hockeyville contest.

David Driedger from the La Crete Minor Hockey Association says if they win, they’ll be able to add a second ice surface.

“Our ice surface is booked completely all the time and we actually have to take some of our youth away because we can’t accommodate them all with the ice time we have. So it looks to us like a very good opportunity with a lot of excitement.”

Driedger says now they’re trying to raise as much support as they can for the contest.

“You try to get as many voters online as you can until February 9, then after February 9 all the stories and photo deadline’s stop and then from there on the judges start to see how many entries you have.”

The Kraft Hockeyville contest started in 2006, with the winning community receiving $250,000 for arena upgrades and an NHL pre-season game.
