Mixed Results for Peace River’s Midget & Bantam Teams

There were some mixed results over the weekend for Peace River’s Midget AA and Bantam AA hockey teams.

The Midget Royals played just one game on Saturday, October 14, 2017, where they played the Fort McMurray Barons to a 3-all draw.

Ashton Wald, Chase Meneen and Eric Lee scored for the Royals, with Mason Ward in net, making a total of 13 saves in the net.

The Bantam Sabres split their two games Saturday and Sunday. In the first game, they did come up short, as they lost 2-1 to the St. Albert Bears.

In this game, Nick Power scored the team’s only goal, while Jesse Schweigert made 23 saves in net.

The Sabres did have a lot more luck in the second game, as they were able to beat back the Whitecourt TRAC Wolverines by a score of 4-2.

Scoring for the winning team was Ethan Bank, Mohammed Fayad, Mason Lavoie and Mathieu Maisonneuve, with Matthew Ireland making 18 saves in net for his team.

The Royals hit the road this weekend, where they are expected to make two stops. First, they stop in Strathcona on Saturday to take on the ACT Warriors. On Sunday, the Royals will keep driving further, when they meet up with the Vikings in Camrose.

The Royals don’t play their next home game for another couple of weeks, when they host the Northeast British Columbia (NEBC) at the Baytex Energy Centre on Frdiay, October 27.

The Sabres, meanwhile, are hosting at the Baytex this coming weekend. They host a pair of back-to-back games on October 21 and 22 against the Parkland Athletic Club Timberwolves out of Spruce Grove.

The Royals top the Midget-level’s Bouchier Division at 3-0-and-1, while the Sabres are at the bottom of the Bantam Rural Black Conference at 1-and-5.
