Peace River’s Midget Royals Win, Bantam Sabres Lose Over the Weekend

The Peace River Midget AA Royals took a pair of wins over the weekend.

On Friday, December 8, 2017, the team was in Clairmont to take on the GPAC Storm, and they won that one 5-2.

Mason Ward made 21 saves in net for the Royals, while the five goals were scored by Kevin Schlack, Terrik Brennan, Cale Fox, Robert Lemay and Jordy Greschner.

The next day, the Royals host the Fort McMurray Barons out in Falher, and they again won the day, taking the game by a 4-1 score.

Schlack, Fox and Brennan again scored for the team, as did Eric Dentinger. Dominic Bernetic was in net, where he stopped 25 of 26 shots.

The Bantam AA Sabres only played one game this weekend, and they weren’t so fortunate. They fell 5-2 to the Grande Prairie Hitch’em Oilfield Hauling Storm.

Scoring for the team were Faron Knott and Malakie Muskwa, with Matthew Ireland making just 26 of 31 saves in net.

The Royals and the Sabres each have just one more game before the Christmas break, and both are set to go at the Baytex Energy Centre.

On Friday, December 15, the Royals are set to host the Sturgeon Sting at 7 PM. They are also hosting the annual “Fill the Net with Toys” drive, and they are encouraging spectators to bring a new unwrapped toy to the game.

On Sunday, December 17, the Sabres are set to welcome the Fort St. John Flyers to town at 11:45 PM.
