Prospectors Get First Win; Outlaws Still Looking for Theirs

The Peace River Prospectors got their first win over the weekend at Glenmary Field.

But the close, 32-26 win over High Prairie means the Outlaws are still looking for theirs.

High Prairie Outlaws vs. Peace River Prospectors.

There was no score after the first quarter, but the Prospectors scored two touchdowns in the second quarter, giving them a 12-nothing lead at half-time.

In the third quarter, High Prairie started ramping up the pressure, scoring a touchdown and 2-point conversion to make it 12-8 for the Prospectors, although Peace River responded shortly after to make the score 18-8. But the Outlaws scored another one to cut the Prospectors’ lead to 18-14.

In the final quarter, Peace River scored early to make it 24-14, but then the Outlaws scored two more to make the game 26-24 for High Prairie, giving them the lead for the first, and only, time.

But it didn’t last very long, with the Prospectors scoring another touchdown with a 2-point convert to win the game.

Outlaws Head Coach Tom Duchesneau says he’s very proud of how his team played. He said on social media that High Prairie played a very exciting game, and that they continue to show improvement every time they play.

As well, Prospectors Head Coach Mark Owens told the Trending 55 Newsroom that the win was a team effort. He says Defense tackled a lot better than in their previous two games, and that their running game went very well.

As well, he says that both of his Quarterbacks played very well too.

The High Prairie Outlaws play their next game on Saturday, September 23, 2017. They’ll remain at home as they welcome the Wembley Bulldogs to town.

The Peace River Prospectors also have a game on Saturday, when they head off to CKC Field in Grande Prairie to take on the Norsemen.

Both games have their first kick-off take place at 1 PM.
