Saints Basketball Win Gold and Silver

It was an exciting weekend of Basketball at the 44th Annual Sr. Red and Gold Basketball tournament this past weekend!  Glenmary had success on both the boys and girls side.

The Sr. boys went undefeated for the weekend capturing gold for the first time since 2012.  They opened the weekend with an easy 75-17 win over the Grimshaw Trojans.  That
advanced them to the semi-final against the cross town Peace High Nomads.  The Saints shot their way to victory with a 96-48 win.  In the finals they met up with EW Pratt Chargers and it
was a truly amazing 80-79 overtime win with a free throw at 1.9 seconds left to seal the victory.  Jameson Saluna was named Tournament MVP.

On the girls side, the Glenmary Saints brought home the silver as they finished with a 2-1 record.  The Lady Saints, who are currently ranked 7th in 2A in the province out of 106 teams,
opened the weekend with a convincing win against Paul Rowe Raiders from Manning 77-16.  Moving on to the semi-finals, the Lady Saints defeated the Grimshaw High Trojans 60-26.
In the finals the Saints met up with a very tough Lacrete Lancers who ended up winning gold with the Saints securing the silver.  Dakota Broatch from the Saints was named Tournament All Star.
The next action for both teams is this coming weekend.  The boys are off to a tournament in Hanna, while the girls head to the Sweet 16 Tournament in Calgary at Rundle College.
