Sherry Hilton is making it three candidates running for Mayor of Peace River.

Hilton, who manages River City Cinema and owns SherryAnne’s Craft Supplies, has now tossed her hat into the ring for the October 16 vote.

She first moved to the community from London, Ontario in 2010.

Hilton says that there are some needs in the community that are simply not being addressed.

One thing Hilton wants to see implemented, assuming she wins next month, is a 10-year development plan for the town.

She says one thing they need to do is hire an Economic Development Officer, as well as a more effective Economic Development committee.

As well, tourism is one area she’d like to tackle. Hilton says the Peace River itself is a perfect example of a tourism spot that’s not living to its full potential.

During a municipal election campaign, she notes that most mayoral candidates in the area like to run a team under them to try and fill the council positions. Hilton says it’s not the type of game she likes to play.

Hilton has been active in a variety of organizations, including the Peace River Pride Society and the Peace Regional Business Action Group.

She previously ran in the 2015 provincial election as the Alberta Party candidate for the Peace River constituency.
