Valleyview’s Hillside Cougars Get First Win of the Year

The Hillside High School Cougars out of Valleyview have their first win of the 2017 fall season for the Mighty Peace Football League (MPFL).

It was close, but the team edged out the Charles Spencer Mavericks at Grande Prairie’s CKC Field by a score of 19-17. This puts their current season record at 1-and-3.

Head Coach Travis Loewen told the Trending 55 Newsroom that getting that much-needed win felt great.

“(The boys) made some big plays,” said Loewen. “We came through when we needed to and held on. I also have to give credit to (the Mavericks) too for making some big plays as well.”

The Cougars play their next game in Peace River next Thursday at Glenmary Field at 4 PM against the Pioneers.

“Hopefully, we can keep some momentum in this game,” he said. “Now that we know we can handle the pressure of close games, and keep improving after every week, we’ll be better next week, and hopefully, good enough to win.”
