Arnold Viersen has been busy touring the riding this month. The Peace River-Westlock MP has been in various communities in the Peace, meeting with farmers, municipal politicians, and many other residents.

Viersen says many of the concerns he hears in the region is the same. “The outcome of the election was a disappointment for residents,” says Viersen. “That was the number one thing I heard about.”

He also mentions that residents are concerned with gun control. “Residents are concerned with the firearms regime that the federal government is talking about.”

Viersen points out that he has heard the worries of local farmers. “I met with a number of farmers whose crops are still in the ground,” states Viersen. “They are looking to the federal government for different programs and some easing of some of the payouts they have to make.”

Viersen also says the federal carbon tax has added another layer of expenses to the monthly budget of Canadian families.

He adds that he will bring these issues up in Parliament, when it resumes on January 27.
