Before 7:35 last night, the Town of Sexsmith had three old grain elevators. Now, they only have two. A fire, which broke out last night, destroyed one of the historic buildings. 39 firefighters from eight municipalities responded to the blaze. They included Sexsmith, Clairmont, Dunes, LaGlace, Teepee Creek and Bezanson. Reports say another nearby elevator did suffer some fire damage, but firefighters quickly put out any hot spots. Overall, they were able to prevent the spread to the rest of the buildings, including a historic railway station. Thus far, there’s been no estimate of all the damages to the buildings. The investigation continues into exactly what caused the fire.
