Fake it till they make it…or something like that…
Anyone but You is a fun rom-com where our two main characters, Ben and Bea, have a really nice meet-cute at a coffee shop. It seems like everything is going smoothly until that night. Bea just leaves with no explanation. She just caught up in the moment. When she returned to apologize she found Ben complaining to his friend about what happened. So, this small misunderstanding led to them hating each other’s guts. Which wouldn’t be a problem if Bea’s sister and Ben’s best friend’s sister were getting married. Meaning they have to spend a whole wedding exertion together.
The supporting cast sees that Bea and Ben are kind of meant for each other. They try to set them up so that they can be happy…and also stop fighting because it’s also ruining the wedding. Ben and Bea catch on however and to put an end to their matchmaking shenanigans just decide to just pretend to be together. Although, it may just end up as more than pretend after a while.
When I said the family did shenanigans to get them together, I meant it. They tried to have really loud conversations next to them in the hopes that they would overhear how much they should be together. But of course, they did it really poorly. it’s interesting to see an actor act badly on purpose…I think that just means their a good actor. I also loved some other jokes and situations they found themselves in. They made me chuckle a few times.
I also really love that if you pay attention to the background in certain scenes you can see quotes that are hidden around. Either written on walls or other objects. They always are prevalent to what’s happening or what’s to come and I thought that was such a fun touch and rewards audiences for paying attention.
It’s a good time and if you’re looking for a little romance and maybe a laugh or two definitely worth watch.
Overall I give it 3/5 candy shakes
