Law Enforcement Services are reminding drivers of the critical need to reduce speed in construction zones to ensure the safety of both workers and road users.

On July 9th, at 11:05 a.m., a Grande Prairie Peace Officer observed a motorcycle speeding at 106 km/h in a posted 30 km/h zone.

The rider was 76 km/h over the speed limit in an active construction area, posing a significant safety risk.

The driver was stopped and issued a violation ticket, requiring a mandatory court appearance.

Peace Officer Sergeant Ryan Hoffman stressed, “Excessive speeding in construction zones can have serious, irreversible consequences, especially where workers are present.”

Enforcement Services urges motorists to respect speed limits in these areas to help keep everyone safe.
