Northern Sunrise County is requesting provincial funding to cover up to $2 million in costs for expert consultants and legal counsel as it responds to the federal review of the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project.
Reeve Corrina Williams says the costs reflect advice from Ontario municipalities already hosting nuclear facilities.
With a July 23 deadline to submit feedback on the federal Impact Assessment Agency’s draft guidelines, the County stresses that these expenses shouldn’t fall on local ratepayers.
The MD of Peace has echoed the call in a letter to the Premier.
