  1. Construction has begun, with a targeted opening of 2027.
    The new $10.95 million dollar project, that is the High Level Healthcare Clinic, will be connected to the Health Center, to access both facilities in one.
  2. The Valleyview Health Center Foundation has purchased new equipment, courtesy the MD of Greenview.
    Council approved a $9,250 grant to support the purchase a new 15-lead ECG Machine for acute care services.
  3. Camp Day is happening today at the Tim Horton’s restaurants across the Northwest.
    Proceeds from hot and iced coffee sales, Camp Day doughnuts and merchandise go to help send kids to summer camp. (Jordan Richards interview in separate story)
  4. The provincial government completed fewer new or refurbished affordable housing units last year than the previous three years.
    The combined number of 798 units and subsidies fell short of the ministry’s target of 1,500 for the year.
  5. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and a hand-picked panel are beginning their series of town halls to address public concerns with the federal government.
    The “Alberta Next Panel” will be making a stop in Grande Prairie on September 17.
  6. Wheatbelt Baseball League semi-finals start tonight on two fronts. Grimshaw is in Peace River, and Grande Prairie is in Rycroft.
  7. Next hockey season is in the works in the NWJHL. Training camp dates are being set up, and the call for billets for team players are being put out.
  8. The 2026 NHL regular season schedules was released today. Opening night is Tuesday October 7th in Florida, Manhattan, and Los Angeles.
    The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames open the season against each other in Edmonton on October 8th.
  9. A mix of sun and cloud with warm temperatures are scheduled for the Northwest this afternoon. Highs are in the mid to high 20’s, pushing 30 in the Peace and Mackenzie.
    Lows tonight are decent at around 10 degrees. Digits will cool off by the weekend, with a higher chance of showers.
