- Crews have gained a bit of the upper-hand in the wildfire near Slave Lake.
The blaze, 20 km north of town, is still listed as Out-of-control, as it was started this past weekend by Lightning. - High Level RCMP reports indicate that 30% of crime was property crime, while 25% pertained to other criminal activities.
Meanwhile, a 29% increase in Criminal Code offenses, and a 47% increase in property crime was noted in the first half of 2025, from 2024.
On the positive side, no drug crime was reported in June in town. - Police are continuing to look for Alexander Heming Carroll. Their last known whereabouts was in Grande Prairie, and is noted for activities in GP and Beaverlodge.

- Nampa’s Kayla Skrlik will play in the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, based on their 2024-25 Canadian Team Ranking System results.
This will be Skrlik’s third trip to the Scotties, which will be in Mississauga Ontario. Right now, she’s preparing for the Olympic Trials in November in Halifax. - CFL… Montreal is in Calgary, the Alouettes are 4-2, the Stampeders are 5-1.
- The Toronto Blue Jays continue their important week by starting a 4-game weekend set in Detroit tonight. Eric Lauer starts for the Jays against Reese Olson.
- A chance of showers is forecasted for the Peace and Big Lakes this afternoon. The Mackenzie is getting drenched right now, with potentially 40 mm of rain hitting the ground today and tonight.
Highs are in the low 20’s this afternoon, with lows tonight being in the low teens. Skies clear out for the weekend, and get warmer next week.
