A sequel even freakier than the last.
Freakier Friday takes place years after the first movie, following our same characters with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising their roles. Lohan’s Character now has a daughter and is not coming to terms with her new stepsister. Since this is the second movie, there is two times the switch ups. Now there are two daughters in the mix that switch bodies with the original characters . Set in the modern day, this leads to a whole new slew of shenanigans. I also love that they have changed the dynamic a little. Not only is it a mother and daughter that are forced to understand each other, but also a new girl coming into a family and seeing a new perspective on life.
I thought this movie was funny. I really didn’t have super big expectations, but the writing was really good. There were a lot of characters that were just off the wall, and each line had me laughing out loud. Honestly, the supporting cast was as much of a highlight as the main group. Visually, it was fun. There were some physical gags, like how they wear each other’s clothes and even do a photo shoot dressing up in wacky outfits.
There were a few things that were slightly unrealistic that they got away with while trying to pretend to be someone else. I feel like someone definitely would have said or done something, but with a little suspension of disbelief, it’s all good.
Overall, if you’re a fan of the first one, it’s worth giving a watch. It’s not a serious movie, and the story isn’t crazy deep, but it’s fun, lighthearted, and has a good message, so if you’re still curious about this sequel, give the trailer a watch below.
