  1. Valleyview RCMP are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing person.
    15 year-old Jerrydan Chalifoux was reported missing during the weekend, and was last seen August 28 on the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
  2. Today and this week are business as usual, concerning Teacher’s potential Job Action, as students head back to class today.
    But the Provincial Government and the Teachers Employer Bargaining Association has voted to potentially lock the Teachers out.
  3. Classes are back in session across the Northwest Region, which means earlier mornings, speed zones are back in effect, and school bus presence is on the road. (Sheldon Bossart interview in Separate story)
  4. 52 year-old Gerald Kenneth Capot was scheduled for sentencing in June, but his lawyer has withdrawn from the case, and no date can be set because of the warrant.
    Capot and Kenneth Randy Ferguson were both charged in connection to the fire at the St. Bernard Church in Grouard in May of 2023.
  5. Harvest in the Peace Region, is reported to be 7% done. Specifically, Dry Peas is at 28%, Barley is at 14%, Spring Wheat is at 8%, and Oats is at 7%. Canola is just getting started.
    Sub-surface moisture is at 55% in Good to Excellent condition, up from 51% last week.
  6. Oscar-nominated Canadian actor Graham Greene, has died at age 73.
  7. NWJHL Pre-season tonight… Beaverlodge is in Grande Prairie
    Meanwhile, training camps are getting set to go for the La Crete Lumber Barons this weekend. The regular season starts next weekend.
  8. The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series in Cincinnati tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Nick Lodolo.
    The Jays have lost four of their last six games, and sit with a 2 1/2-game lead in the AL East.
  9. Air Quality warnings are covering most of the province with wildfire smoke blowing in from the Territories.
    Here in northwestern Alberta, highs will be in the low to mid 20’s today and be around that mark for most of the week. No rain is expected in the forecast this week as well.
