On October 6, 2025, the Valleyview RCMP executed a firearm-related search warrant on the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, leading to the arrest of four individuals and seizure of significant contraband.
Authorities confiscated 70 grams of cocaine, over $7,500 in Canadian currency, a shotgun three pistols, ammunition, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
The arrested individuals include 18-year-old Hayden Halcrow of High Prairie, 31-year-old Jamie Lee Pickard of Edmonton, 29-year-old Jeneva Chowace of Valleyview, and a 16-year-old youth.
All face charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with court orders, with Chowace facing an additional 15 offences.
Following their arrest, all four were remanded into custody.
Halcrow, Chowace, and Pickard are scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton on October 9, 2025, while the youth is set to appear on October 8, 2025.
