The Village of Berwyn has officially applied to be featured in HGTV’s new series, Home Town Takeover Canada.

This initiative aims to revitalize a small Canadian community and showcase the resilience of small towns nationwide.

Mayor Nicole Johnson, inspired by the community’s needs, spearheaded the application process.

She emphasized the importance of providing more opportunities for families to connect and enjoy their surroundings.

“This application wasn’t just about revitalization—it was my way of saying thank you to the incredible residents who make this place home,” said Mayor Johnson.

After submitting an online application detailing Berwyn’s character and needs, HGTV expressed interest and requested a follow-up video.

The submission highlights the village’s essence, underscores the need for recreational opportunities, and features interviews with residents and Mayor Johnson.

The Lac Cardinal Regional Economic Development Board (LCRED), a partnership between Berwyn, Grimshaw, and the Municipal District of Peace No. 135, supported and funded the video’s creation.

Mayor Johnson acknowledged the collaborative effort, stating, “We couldn’t have done this without the support of LCRED, Dani from Rural Heart Media, and the residents featured in the video.”

Berwyn’s application reflects a community’s hope to rejuvenate its spaces and strengthen its bonds, embodying the spirit of small-town resilience.
