Concerns are being brought forward by groups and organizations regarding the limited hours of operation for the Out of the Cold Shelter in Peace River.
The Sagitawa Friendship Society has accepted a letter from 11 physicians in the Peace River area, concerned with injuries and treatments being presented in the over night hours at the Hospital.
The injuries are being predominantly suffered by the unhoused individuals, who are exposed to the weather elements during the winter.
Injuries and treatments like exposure, frostbite, and other cold-related injuries are being treated because of no warm place to go, thus having prolonged hospital admission.
The Doctors are urging Council to sign the Letter of Support, that was rejected before Christmas, as well as conduct a review and response to the matter brought forward.
