The Dixonville Charter School Society says planning continues to move forward for Dixonville Rural Academy (DRA), which is targeting an opening for the 2026–27 school year. The Society reports steady progress across key areas of development.

Following provincial approval, DRA has been assigned a Field Supervisor which will guide the school through each stage of the process and ensure alignment with Alberta Education requirements. Work is also underway to explore transportation options, including contracted busing, to support families across the rural area. The Society has also met with Alberta Infrastructure and anticipates gaining access to the school space within the coming months. Once in the facility, preparations will begin for learning, community use, and school operations.

The Society also recently met with the Dixonville Playschool Society to explore collaboration opportunities that support early learning. In addition, preparations are underway to post a hiring advertisement for the school’s Superintendent to help shape the school’s culture, educational direction, and long-term vision.

To keep residents informed and engaged, the Dixonville Charter School Society hosting a Community Q&A Session on Saturday, February 21, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Dixonville Community Hall. The open session will provide an opportunity for community members to meet the board, ask questions, and learn more about ongoing preparations for Dixonville Rural Academy.
