At the February 23, 2026, Regular Open Meeting, High Level Mayor Josh Lambert announced the resignation of Councillor Jori Zatko, expressing gratitude for her public service. The administration will present options for a by-election to fill the vacancy, adhering to the Municipal Government Act.
Council also addressed the Dene Tha’ First Nation Fire Services Agreement. Administration requested rescinding previous motions to renegotiate the agreement. Concerns were raised about the lack of a formal agreement since 2022 and unresolved service costs and equipment issues. The matter was tabled until a comprehensive agreement is ready for review.
Additionally, Council received presentations on the North Peace Regional Raw Water Feasibility Study and the Town’s Roadway Data Collection and Pavement Management Plan, aiming to enhance regional water supply and improve infrastructure maintenance.
