  1. A man from Grande Prairie has been given two years in jail in a stolen vehicle investigation in Peace River.
    Tyler Wayne Roherty pleaded guilty to his charges, after the vehicle was found near Dixonville, through the vehicle’s GPS system.
  2. A two-year conditional sentence order has been handed to a woman, in connection to a drug and unstamped tobacco arrest in High Level last year.
    Joanne Bulldog will serve time in the community, after pleading guilty of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
  3. From the RCMP’s Weekly Wanted file, police in the area are searching for Wayne Donald Crowell.
    He’s noted for activities in Grande Prairie and Clairmont, but police do state that activities and presence could possibly extend to the Peace Region.
  4. Court Orders have been undertaken against the use of bulldozers for winter access roads to Bistcho and Thurston Lakes on the Dene Tha First Nation.
    The Nation claims it was not consulted before the Government transferred control over portions of the Bistcho Lake winter road from oil and gas companies to Mackenzie County.
    The County plans to use the ice roads to create public recreational road access to Bistcho Lake, Thurston Lake, Johnson Lake, and Esk Lake.
  5. The provincial is changing animal protection laws, where fines of up to $250,000, plus jail time can be imposed.
    The amendments would give authorities better tools to expand locations and businesses that can be inspected.
    Agriculture Minister RJ Sigurdson says that incidents, like the In the Woods Animal Rescue case, prompted the changes to the legislation.
  6. Highways and roadways are expected to be busy this long weekend for Easter.
    Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions, and be mindful to be safe this weekend.
    They are also encouraged to check gas prices, with it being around $1.70 on avereage in the Peace Region, compared to $1.30 at this time last year.
  7. At the Junior B Hockey provincials in Lloydminster, La Crete plays the host Bandits tonight.
  8. Seven Canadian teams are in action as part of a 14-game NHL schedule tonight.
    Chicago is in Edmonton, Calgary is in Las Vegas, Vancouver is in Minnisota, Winnipeg is in Dallas, Toronto is in San Jose, Buffalo is in Ottawa, and Montreal is at the Rangers.
  9. Snow is falling in the Northwest, and will continue for the rest of the day today. Highs are around zero this afternoon, with lows tonight being around -5.
    Skies clear out, and digits warm up heading into the Easter long weekend.
