Seeding progress has picked up across the Peace Region.
According to the most recent Alberta Crop Report from Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation (May 19), seeding of major crops in the Peace Region are now 33% complete. This is a significant jump from last week’s 5% figure.
Progress still remains behind the 5-year and 10-year averages of 51% and 48% respectively due to the delayed start because of an above average snowpack, below average early spring temperatures, and wet field conditions.
