Beaverlodge RCMP have cancelled the Amber Alert for Lanakai Morrison, saying there’s no longer a reasonable expectation the public in Alberta can act on the alert.
However, Lanakai remains missing, along with his mother, Krista Morrison, her partner, Daniel Ludwig, and four-year-old Karl Morrison.
Alberta RCMP say the investigation into their disappearance continues.
UPDATE 4pm – July 9
An Amber Alert remains in effect across northern Alberta for everyone north of Grande Cache, extending to Chateh and the province’s northern and western boundaries.
RCMP say six-year-old Lanakai Morrison was abducted from Beaverlodge on July 7.
Lanakai is described as a white male child with a slight build, long light brown hair, and brown eyes.
Police believe he was taken by his mother, 35-year-old Krista Morrison.
Investigators say they may also be travelling with 35-year-old Daniel Ludwig and four-year-old Karl Morrison.
The group is believed to be travelling in a 2006 red Ford F-350 with Alberta licence plate C-X-W 8820.
Police are asking the public not to approach the vehicle or the individuals if they are seen. Instead, anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to contact Beaverlodge RCMP at 780-354-2955 or call their local police service immediately.
RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle to come forward.

BACKGROUND
An Amber Alert has been issued for a six-year-old boy believed to have been abducted by his mother on July 7.
Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for Lanakai Morrison, described as a white male with a slight build, long light brown hair, and brown eyes.
Investigators believe Lanakai may be with his mother, 35-year-old Krista Morrison, who is five-foot-eight with a medium build, long dark brown hair, and brown eyes.
Police say they may be travelling in a black 2015 Toyota Tundra with Alberta licence plate CTN-9517.
Authorities also believe the pair may be accompanied by Daniel Ludwig, a 35-year-old white male with a large build, brown hair, and brown eyes, as well as Karl Morrison, a four-year-old white boy with a slight build, long dirty blonde hair, and brown eyes.
The Amber Alert is in effect for everyone within 500 kilometres of Beaverlodge, Alberta.
If you see the vehicle or have any information about their whereabouts, do not approach them. Instead, call 9-1-1 or your local police immediately.
