Big Lakes County has a new pumper rescue fire truck serving the Hamlet of Grouard.
The truck, approved by Council as part of the 2024 budget, replaces a 22-year-old fire apparatus and is part of the County’s ongoing investment in public safety and emergency response.
Manufactured by Acres Emergency Vehicles in Manitoba, the new truck was delivered to the Grouard Fire Hall on August 26th.
It carries 800 gallons of water and is equipped with modern firefighting and rescue equipment. The versatile unit can respond to wildland and structure fires, as well as a range of other emergencies.
Fire Chief Jason Cottingham says the truck will improve operational efficiency, response times and the department’s overall capacity, while reducing reliance on specialized units.
The new apparatus is expected to serve Grouard and surrounding areas for the next two decades.
Big Lakes County is also recruiting volunteer firefighters to join its Fire Services team.
