Water Restriction
A reminder for residents of La Crete: a Stage 1 Water Restriction is currently in effect for the Hamlet of La Crete, running from May 1 through September 30.
Annual water restrictions are a normal conservation measure used in many communities across Alberta and Canada, helping protect local water supplies during the summer months.
Under Stage 1 restrictions, residents may hand-water gardens at any time using a watering can or a hose with a trigger nozzle.
Sprinklers, children’s water toys, and small pools under 1,000 litres are also permitted for recreation, but only while children are present.
Watering lawns, however, is limited to 5 to 9 in the morning and 7 to 11 in the evening. Even-numbered addresses may water on even-numbered days, while odd-numbered addresses may water on odd-numbered days.
Residents are thanked for doing their part to conserve water this summer.
Hydrant Flushing
Mackenzie County is reminding residents in La Crete that routine waterline maintenance is underway.
As part of that work, hydrant flushing will be taking place on dead-end waterlines and other select areas throughout the community.
The flushing is scheduled to continue from August 31st through September 11th, 2026.
During this period, residents may notice temporary discoloration in their water, along with lower-than-normal water pressure.
The county says these temporary changes are expected and do not need to be reported.
However, if you experience water discoloration that does not clear up, you are asked to contact the La Crete office at 780-928-3983.
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly while the maintenance work is underway.
Again, hydrant flushing in La Crete will continue through September 11th as Mackenzie County carries out routine waterline maintenance.
