A fatal collision on Highway 2 near Spirit River is under investigation.
Spirit River RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision shortly after 3:10 Tuesday afternoon, involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck.
EMS and STARS Air Ambulance also attended the scene.
Police say the driver of the pickup, a 41-year-old man from Grande Prairie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the pickup suffered serious injuries and was airlifted by STARS for treatment.
The driver of the semi-truck did not report any injuries at the time.
The highway has since reopened to traffic, while RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Alberta RCMP are offering their condolences to the family and friends of the man who died.
