Big Lakes County is under a Flood Warning as the Spring Run-Off advisory continues.
Water is currently flowing over the berms that run along the northern portions of the East Prairie and West Prairie Rivers. Officials say roads and residential properties have been impacted and additional water level increases and impacts are possible as snowmelt continues.
As of 6:45pm on Wednesday, April 22, the following roads have been closed due to overland flooding:
– Township Road 753A between Range Road 171A and 170A
– Range Road 163 between Township Road 750 and Township Road 752
– Range Road 153 ‘Swamp Road’
Report any urgent concerns immediately to Big Lakes County by calling 780-523-5955.
Drivers are urged to use caution on county roads and avoid travelling through standing water, where surfaces may be unstable.
Residents in need of sandbags can access supplies at the Public Works Yard in High Prairie, but must bring their own shovel and check in at the Administration Office first.
