Around 6 p.m. on May 15th, shots were exchanged between two men who knew each other in a cul-de-sac in Kapawe’no First Nation, Alberta.

RCMP say one of the men was struck and collapsed nearby, while the other fled the scene and remains at large.

Witnesses and officers provided first aid until EMS arrived, and the injured man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police recovered a handgun modified for automatic fire, capable of holding 33 rounds, with a defaced serial number.

Following an investigation, RCMP identified 35-year-old Lucas Zane Auger of Driftpile, Alberta, as the suspect.

He is wanted on charges including attempted murder, pointing a firearm, and multiple weapons offences.

Mounties warn Auger is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is urged to contact High Prairie RCMP.
