GP Storm Still Looking Good This Season

The Grande Prairie Storm continues their season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) this week.

The Storm, who are currently 3-4-and-1 for the season, has a game at home on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, when they play host to the Drayton Valley Thunder. On Saturday, October 7, GP remains Revolution Arena for a game against Whitecourt. The Wolverines, at 5-2-and-2, currently lead the AJHL North standings.

In the AJHL’s scoring race, two Storm forwards are among three players currently in a tie for second overall. They include 20-year-olds Edouard Michaud and Justin Bernier, who each have 15 points. The top player at this moment is Jordan Taupert, a 19-year-old forward, who plays for the Drumheller Dragans.

Also on the list from GP includes Connor Blake, another 19-year-old forward, who currently is in a tie for seventh spot at 12 points, and Noah Walters, an 18-year-old forward, who’s in a tie for eighteenth at 10 points.

The team also took part in the AJHL Showcase in Camrose over the weekend, where the team split their two games at 1-all.

On Friday, September 29, they suffered their loss at the hands of the Brooks Bandits. The Storm came up short 4-2. Edouard Michaud scored both goals for the team, while Charles-Olivier Levesque made 27 saves in net.

The next day, GP was up against the Calgary Mustangs, where luck was certainly on their side, as the Storm just blasted them by a score of 8-3.

Michaud again scored two goals, Justin Bernier and Connor Blake each scored a goal and two assists, while Colin MacPherson and Dallas Comeau each got a goal and an assist. Christopher Lanouette also managed to get a goal into the net.

As well, Alex Lindstrom recorded three assists, Noah Walters and Parker Smyth each nabbed two, Zachary Okabe managed to score one. Ethan Slobodzian also made 37 saves in net.

Overall, the Storm are now in fifth spot in the AJHL North.
