Charges are pending against a 19-year-old Grimshaw man after an attack on an elderly woman in Slave Lake on Friday, December 1, 2017.
The alleged incident took place early in the morning, when the suspect entered the women’s home. A struggle ensued, resulting in the victim being struck multiple times with a baseball bat.
The man fled the home on foot when the woman was able to reach a point of safety. Police arrested the suspect a short distance from the house some time later.
The woman was treated for none-life threatening injuries, and was released from hospital.
The investigation into this incident continues. Police have not yet figured out a motive for the attack.
