
Anyone who was forced to leave town due to spring flooding can still apply for money from the province, but time is running out.
People have until this Friday at 5:00 PM to submit their request.
The Alberta Government announced on May 4 that anyone who had to flee their home due to the flooding would be eligible for a one-time payment of $1,250, and an additional $500 per-child under-18-years-of-age.
However, the Emergency Evacuation Payment (EEP) application period closes 30 days after the mandatory evacuation orders were lifted.
An ice-jam in the Peace River caused flooding of the communities of: Fort Vermilion, Buttertown, as well as Rural Mackenzie County.
Approximately 500 residents in the northwest had to flee in April.
The government says payouts will be done via e-transfer, but people can call 1-877-644-9992.
