Four people have been arrested and charged following an incident early Saturday morning in Cadotte Lake.

According to the Peace Regional RCMP, the situation started around 1:00 AM when one male was assaulted in an attempt to steal his truck.

Just before 6:45 AM, the Mounties got a 911 call that two people in two red vehicles at a residence were pointing guns at each other.

While officers were on their way to the scene, one of the vehicles took off.

When they arrived, they found a red Ford Fusion and two males were arrested.

The car was searched and weapons and drug paraphernalia were seized.

Through witnesses, the RCMP was able to confirm the other vehicle was a red Charger.

Other members of the Peace River detachment were able to find track the vehicle heading west towards Peace River on Highway 2.

The vehicle attempted to flee from police, but tire spikes were used, twice, and the suspects eventually came to a stop on Highway 986 near Simon Lake.

Officers found an air pistol, as well as drug paraphernalia in the vehicle following s search.

The male driver and female passenger were both taken into custody.

The charges are as follows:

Duane Charles Merrier, 41, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime.

Christopher Dale Laboucan, 35, is charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Cody Ross Letendre, 31, is charged with assault, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from peace officer, using a firearm in the commission of an offence and one charge under the Traffic Safety Act.

Bobby Fawn Auger, 30, is charged with nine counts of fail to comply with release order conditions.

Merrier and Laboucan have been released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Peace River on July 20.

Letendre was remanded and Auger’s bail hearing was adjourned.

The RCMP confirms that no shots were fired and no persons were injured in relation to the guns.  

One male was injured as a result of the earlier assault and attempt to steal his vehicle.

The Peace Regional detachment says no other information will be provided on this incident.
