The Major Crimes Unit of the RCMP is investigating after a body was found this morning.
Emergency Medical Services was on a call and found a deceased male on the side of Highway 677, west of Highway 2 near the Woking turn-off.
The Spirit River detachment was notified at around 9:00 AM, and an investigation revealed that circumstances of the male’s death are suspicious.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
Highway 677 west of Highway 2 is closed to traffic and it is expected to be diverted for the rest of the day.
The RCMP says it is very early in the investigation and that further information will be released as it becomes available.
The Mounties are asking the public’s assistance for any information in relation to this incident, or if you have dash cam footage in the area of Highway 677 in the early morning hours of June 11, 2020, to please contact Spirit River RCMP at 780-864-3525 or your local police.
