Head Coaches from both the Glenmary Senior Basketball teams are excited to see what will unfold on the courts in 2A Provincial Championships after a two year hiatus due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

The 2021-22 season is the first time any current high school senior athlete has got the chance to play at zones or in the championships with no play over the pandemic.

Both men’s and women’s senior Saints have qualified for the 2A Provincials being held at Christian School in Calgary for the men and at Oilfields High School in Black Diamond for the women. The tournaments run from March 17 to 19.

Head Coach of the Lady Saints, Brad Harrop says his team is ranked third in 2A standings and will play against Three Hills in their first game on Thursday, March 15. “The girls are excited, they worked through many hours, lots of practices, even when things were on hold in some regions and travel… they still worked hard.” Harrop noted it will be a new experience for the team.

Glenmary Saints Sr. Women’s Head Coach Brad Harrop:

The Lady Saints ended their regular season this year with a 21-4 record, with their four losses totalling only 18 points.

Head Coach of the Men Saints, Jordan Loughlin says of course they want to win it all, but most importantly to be competitive. “My boys… their goal this year was to make it to Provincials, be competitive and put Glenmary on the map for the boys program.” The men went undefeated in the regular season winning all six tournaments they attended as well as NWASAA Zones, for a record of 26-0.

Glenmary Saints Sr. Men’s Head Coach Jordan Loughlin Interview:
