Desmarais RCMP respond to firearms complaint
Desmarais Alta. – On Oct. 20, 2022, at 08:51 a.m., Desmarais RCMP received a report that Mistassiniy School had gone into a lockdown status due to a student potentially having a firearm. Upon arrival, RCMP learned that a student was seen with what appeared to be a firearm. RCMP were directed to a class where the student was taken into custody without incident. Further investigation revealed that there was not a firearm.
No charges have been laid in this incident and the school will be handing this internally.
