Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide on Whitefish Lake First Nation
Atikameg, Alta. – On April 27, 2023, High Prairie RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence in Atikameg on Whitefish First Nation. Upon arrival, officers located 56-year-old Beatrice Laboucan deceased in the residence. A suspect was also located in the residence and arrested. The Albert RCMP Major Crimes Unit was contacted and took carriage of the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, on April 28, 2023, RCMP charged Whitefish First Nation resident 31-year-old Tristan Patrick Kayne Grey with Second-degree-murder.
Grey was taken before a justice of the peace and has been remanded in custody with his next court appearance set for May 29, 2023 at the Alberta Court of Justice in High Prairie.
