There’s less than two weeks to go in the provincial election, and the local candidates are continuing their campaigns.

The NDP candidate in Peace River is Liana Paiva, she says concerns she had on the new school curriculum is what motivated her to run.

“As a parent, I gathered information on the curriculum, and the more I learned, the more concerned I became about this curriculum. Also watching what was happening with health care in our province, I just felt like I couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore. I had to actually get involved to try and make things better.”

Paiva says most of the concerns she’s heard from people on the campaign trail are on the health care topic.

“People being unable to find a health care provider, also the EMS and paramedic coverage, and the size of our area that’s understaffed and people concerned about getting medical attention they might need.”

The provincial election will take place on May 29.
