
UPDATE – May 17, 2023 at 10:35 a.m.
PMD003 (Between Range Road 25 and Range Road 32 north of Township Road 824):
The fire northeast of the Town of Fairview remains held, but is not under control. It has burned approximately 3000 acres and is, at present, not growing in size or moving significantly in either direction.
Firefighting efforts at this time are focused on monitoring for and extinguishing flareups. The cooler temperatures and favourable wind conditions have enabled our firefighting crews to make some headway towards bringing this fire under control.
GWF-018 (Peace River Banks/Cleardale Fire, burning North of Fourth Creek): This fire is currently classified as out of control and is being actively monitored. The most up to date information regarding the status of this wildfire can be found on the websites and social media for Saddle Hills County and Clear Hills County.
As a precaution, Pratt’s Landing Campground and Recreation Area has been temporarily closed to the public, effective as of 4:30 p.m. on May 16, 2023. The access road to Pratt’s Landing has been closed and is barricaded – we kindly request the public’s cooperation in respecting this closure.
All residents within the Town of Fairview and the M.D. of Fairview No. 136 are urged to:
– Be prepared,
– Comply with the Fire Ban in effect,
– Exercise extreme caution to avoid igniting new fires, and
– Report any new fires or suspected fires to 310-FIRE.
