Special air quality statements blanket the Peace and Mackenzie as wildfires continue to send heavy smoke high into the atmosphere.
The latest update from Alberta Wildfire indicates there are 92 active fires across the province and 29 considered out of control.
The biggest one in the Peace River Forest Area is the Kimiwan Complex Wildfire that is now 90,000 ha in size and has forced evacuations in the Peavine Metis Settlement.
Also of note is the fire near Cleardale that is now at 48,000 ha and residents in Clear Hills County and Saddle Hills County have been told to be on alert.
In the High Level Forest Area, the Long Lake fire that has forced evacuations in Rainbow Lake and Chateh is over 96,000 ha, and the Paskwa fire near Fox Lake is over 54,000 ha.
Meanwhile the Grizzly Complex fire south of High Prairie is around 92,000 ha.
The smoke from those fires and others are limiting visibility.
Roads are open, but services are limited and detours may occur, because of fire situations.
Dry, warm, and windy weather is scheduled for the weekend, but next week could bring cooler temperatures, and perhaps a little bit of rain to the Region.
Fingers Crossed!
