Oilers & Flames Heritage Classic Jerseys Reveled

When the Battle of Alberta takes place on October 29th at Commonwealth Stadium for the Heritage Classic game the Oilers and Flames will be dawning a new look for the event. The event will have special uniforms as is often the case with Heritage and Winter Classic games as well as Stadium Series events, where they take the teams out of the rinks and play outdoors in the football or baseball stadiums.

The Oilers look is inspired by the 1952 Edmonton Mercury that won gold at the 1952 Olympics, which until the 2002 gold medal was the last Canadian gold at the Olympics for men’s hockey. For the Oilers I like this look for a one off jersey.

For the Flames their jersey is inspired by the Calgary Stampeders … no not the football team but the hockey team from the 1950s and 60s. This look is one they could actually wear more often as it still has a modern day feel to it.
