  • UPDATE: Physician found to cover as of 7am Friday.
    The Emergency Department at the Fairview Health Complex has no doctor from now until 7am on Saturday.
    Reports of doctor shortages continue across the region.
  • UPDATE: Peace River RCMP would like to inform the public that the driver was identified and has been contacted by Peace River RCMP. A ticket for $810 was issued under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Regulation with regards to this incident.
    Police in Peace River are looking to speak with the driver in a non-fatal collision.
    On Tuesday afternoon, at Highway 2 & Range Road 231, a vehicle going west, had an object fall off their truck, hitting an eastbound vehicle.

  • Big Lakes County has put the call out for members at large to serve on many different boards and committees.
    Positions include the Municipal Planning Commission, the Library Board, and the High Prairie Airport Advisory Committee.
  • The Town of Manning is seeking feedback on the community garden.
    This past Spring, free plots were offered to members of the community.
    Input requested includes it’s location, usability, and whether it added value to the town.
  • The Alberta Government setting aside money for courthouse infrastructure, which includes Peace River.
    Of that money, $250,000 is going to an access project, beginning next month.
  • One of the deadliest attacks by Russia in their war with Ukraine results in the death of at least 50, including a 6 year old boy.
    The Russian missile strike was against civilians at a cafe.
  • A Solar Eclipse is coming on Saturday, October 14th.
    In Northern Alberta, the peak will take place around 10:30am, and 40-to-50% of the sun will be covered.
  • Nobel Prize for literature awarded to Norwegian author Jon Fosse.
    The prize money for the prestigious award is $1.36 million Canadian.
  • Kelce Brothers say that the NFL is overdoing it with promotion of Taylor Swift at Chiefs games.
    Meanwhile, the NFL is pushing lots of promos on her upcoming movie Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

    Flyers went on the road and beat the Sexsmith Vipers 4-3 last night.
