  1. The Peace Regional Women’s Shelter says that professionals have cleaned up the affected areas, and can start putting the building back together.
    Costs for the project are estimated to be at around $422,000.
  2. Town Councils are meeting tonight in Peace River, and High Level.
    Peace River is accepting information regarding the donation of a Firefighting Skid Unit to the Peace River Fire Department, similar to the units donated to High Level.
  3. The New Air Quality monitors installed in schools of the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division, are being inquired about, because of the success in monitoring activity.
    Betty Turpin, the Superintendent, says interest has been received from as far away as the East Coast of Canada.
  4. Tense moments on an Air Canada flight From London to Toronto, after a passenger tried to open the plane door mid-trip.
    No charges have been laid, the plane landed safely in Toronto.
  5. At least 8 people are dead and dozens missing after a landslide in China.
    More than 40 people are believed to be buried under the rubble.
  6. Sarah, the Duchess of York, has been diagnosed with a malignant skin cancer that was discovered during her treatment for breast cancer.
    The melanoma was found after several moles were removed while she was undergoing reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy.
  7. Two Canadian teams are in action in the NHL tonight…
    Chicago is in Vancouver, and Winnipeg is in Boston.
  8. The Edmonton Oilers have signed free agent forward Corey Perry for the rest of the season.
    Perry started the season in Chicago, but had his contract terminated in November.
  9. The Alberta Junior Hockey League is continuing to sort things out, after it was announced that Brooks, Okotoks, Blackfalds, Sherwood Park and Spruce Grove, would be leaving the league to join the BCHL next season.
    The AJHL initially responded by cancelling several games involving those teams on the weekend, with reports that those clubs could get suspended for the rest of the season.
  10. The winter blast is gone for now, and El Nino is setting back in, in the Northwest.
    Numbers will continue to rise, possibly hitting above zero during the weekend.
