Despite the drought conditions and less-favorable environments, Alberta’s bees are producing a good yield, heading into 2024.
Statistics Canada is reporting that Alberta Beekeepers produced and sold over $277 million dollars worth of honey in 2023.
That’s an 8.2% increase from profits made in 2022.
However, the Alberta Beekeepers Commission is saying that drought conditions in the south and more-than-usual moisture in the north made for a quite tricky season in production.
Officials are hoping that 2024 settles down a little, and things are more predictable, and consistant for the pollenation season.
The Executive Director of the Alberta Beekeepers Commission is Connie Phillips.
