The North Peace Navigators are getting to begin another season in the NWJHL.

There’s been a lot of turnover on the roster since the end of last season, but head coach and GM Jody Menssa says they have a good group in the dressing room.

“We’re enthusiastic to get the season going. They’re attentive, they’re wanting to learn because it’s new for them as well and it’s makes the start of the process here exciting. They’ve been very receptive and nothing but enjoyable so far. We’re very excited for what’s to come with this young group and we’re looking forward to it for sure.”

Menssa says with a bit of a younger group this year, there may be some ups and downs.

“One of the things that we’re really hammering on here right now is that we’re gonna be competitors. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing or what the score is, as long as we’re competing to what we’re capable of, that’s really what matters. I think we’ll grow from there, especially with the young group that we’ve got, I think it’s important that they understand that.”

The team managed to win three of their four games during the pre-season.

The Navs home opener at the Baytex Energy Centre will be on Friday night against Fort St. John.
