Peace Regional RCMP investigate fatal collision
Northern Sunrise County, Alta. – On Feb. 9, 2025, at approximately 4:00 P.M., Red Earth Creek RCMP received reports of an impaired driving on Highway 986. The vehicle was leaving the area of Red Earth Creek, Alta., and was heading in the direction of Little Buffalo, Alta.
While RCMP were actively looking for the vehicle, there was a report of collision in the area of highway 986 and Range Road 130A, near Marten Lake, Alta., just inside of Peace Regional RCMP’s jurisdiction.
Shortly after, police from Red Earth Creek and Peace Regional RCMP Detachments, Red Earth Creek Fire Department, as well as Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Advanced Paramedics (APL), STARS arrived on scene.
The 2 occupants from the vehicle matching the Red Earth Creek community complaints, were deceased on scene; their identities are under investigation.
The 2 adult occupants from the second vehicle, a 33-year-old female, and a 49-year-old female, both residents of Red Earth Creek, were declared deceased by EMS and STARS.
RCMP officers including a Collision Reconstruction Analyst remained on scene for several hours investigating.
